Australian Professional Tasting
An event arranged by The Australian Consule (Austrade) to showcase Australian Wine and Food to the business people of Sapporo is planned for the 8th of May from 14:00 to 17:30. It will be held at the Royton Hotel Sapporo.

オーストラリアこだわり食品フェアー
4月5日にさっぽろ東急百貨店にて「オーストラリアこだわり食品フェアー」が無事に終わりました。
オーストラリア産の食品を取り扱っている会社4社の商品が展示・販売されました。詳細は下記の通りです。
1) Human Well
3) KOB Ltd
4) Kurrutti
オーストラリアのイメージを高める為にR. M. Williamsという会社の商品も展示・販売されました。
見に来てくれたり、商品をお買い上げにしてくれた方にありがとうございます。
The Australia Food Fair
The 5th of April was the last day of the Australian Food Fair held at Tokyu Department Store. Those comapnies that participated are listed below.

In order to increase the Australian image, goods from R. M. Williams were also on display and for sale.

Foodex Japan 2006
For 4 days in March I had the opportunity to show (actually it was tasting) Lemon Myrtle to those that visited our booth at 2006 Foodex Japan. It was a wonderful chance to meet those from a number of different industry sectors.
The most interesting things I found from the event are:-
* 95% of the people I spoke to had never heard of Lemon Myrtle.
* 95% of those that tasted Lemon Myrtle commented on its lovely aroma and good taste.
A very pleasing result.
Some I spoke to plan to use Lemon Myrtle in food such as sausages, cookies etc.
A bright year ahead for Lemon Myrtle.
Foodex Japan 2006
3月14～17日までの4日間、Foodex Japan（国際食品・飲料展）に出展しました。ご来場の方々にレモンマートルを紹介する（試飲会を行いました）貴重な機会でした。幅が広い業界の人々と話すことが出来ました。
今回の出展に関して興味深いことは：
* お話をした人の95％がレモンマートルを知りませんでした。
* 試飲した人の95％が素敵な味と香りだとコメントしました。
想像していたより良い結果でした。
尚、中にはソーセージやパン等の料理に使うという人もいました。
レモンマートルにとって良い1年になる予感がします。

レモンマートルとの出会う
お客様からの貴重なコメントを紹介します。
レモンマートルは、去年、札幌に住む母が叔母からいただいて知りました。シュネム（たぶんですが・・・）というケーキ屋さんで買ったということでした。飲んでみてすごく気に入り、インターネットで調べて、去年は母と一緒に購入し、夏中飲んでました。
うちでは、ミネラルウォーターのボトルに、ティーバッグを入れて、水出しにしていただいてます。甘さのないレモネードという感じですごくおいしいです。子供も気に入って飲んでますよ。遊びにきたお友達に出したところ、その友達も気に入ってくれて、ハミルトンまで買いに行ったそうです。
私もちょっとずつ、広めていけたらいいな、と思っています。

かわいい（No. 1）
数週間前、私が東急デパートで仕事をしていたときのことです。
85歳くらいの小柄なおばあちゃんが、札幌駅への行き方を私に聞いてきました。
「すぐそこですよ」と教えたのですが、「どこ？」とおばあちゃんが言うので、「一緒に行きましょう」と案内することになりました。
私が歩き出すと、おばあちゃんは私の小指を握りました。
まるで、小さな娘のようで、私がお父さんになった気分でした。
駅の入り口に無事着いたとき、彼女はステキな笑顔で「ありがとう」と言ってくれました。
その日の午後は、私も全てのお客さんに“エクストラスマイル”で接することができました。
This is cute (No. 1)
I was working at Tokyu Department store a few weeks ago. A little old lady about 85 years of age asked me how to get to Sapporo station. I said 'It is just over there'. She said 'where'.
'I'll show you' I told her. I started walking and she grabbed onto my little finger as if she was my daughter and I her father.
We made it to the entrance safely. She said thank you and departed with a lovely smile. I gave every customer an extra smile that afternoon.

かわいい（No. 2）
私の両親は、2005年5月～6月の約５週間、札幌に遊びに来ました。
両親は、向かいの家に住む年配のおじさんと友達になりました。
両親が日本を去った後も、そのおじさんと両親は、写真をやりとりするなど
私を通して連絡をとりあっていました。
そのおじさんに私の両親から英語の手紙とプレゼントが届いたので、
私は、おじさんの都合のいいときに手紙を日本語に訳しますよと言って、
プレゼントと手紙を手渡しました。
２週間後、出勤途中におじさんに声をかけられました。
立ち止まって話しをすると、おじさんは辞書を買って、
自分で英語の手紙のほとんど読めたと言うのです。
分からなかったところは、ほんとうに少しの部分でした。
子供が唯一の可愛い者と言ったのは誰？
This is cute (No. 2)
My parents visited from May to June 2005 for about 5 weeks. They made
friends with the elderly man across the street. After my parents left Japan
they kept in touch with this elderly man via myseld with the odd photo here
and there. My parents then send a letter (in english) with a gift to this man.
I gave it to him and said I would help him translate it when he has time.
2 weeks passed. I was on my way to work when he called out to me.
I stopped and we started talking. He said that he bought a dictionary and he
understands most of the letter. There are just a few things he doesn't understand.
Who said kids are the only ones that are cute.

フィル コリンズ
私の娘はまだ14ヶ月です。彼女はミュージックビデオを見るのが好きで、英語の勉強法の一つにもなっています。
先月、80年代のデビット ボウイズのレッツダンスを聞いていた時、妻が娘のリナに「ここがパパの生まれたオーストラリアだよ」と説明すると、リナはもうそこに行ったことあるかのように笑っていました。
そして、次にフィルコリンズのミュージックビデオが30秒ぐらい流れると、それを見たリナが「ぱぱ」と呼んだのです。彼の頭を一目見ると、どうしてそう呼んだのか、答えは明白です。
帰宅すると、妻はその日の出来事を楽しそうに話して聞かせてくれました。
彼女は私のことを「フィル」と呼んで、５分間は床に笑い転げていました。
ついに私も、人を笑わせることができるようになったようです。
Phil Collins
My daughter is only 14 months old. She enjoys watching music videos and is one way for her to learn english. Last month it was music from the 80's.
David Bowie's (Let's Dance) was playing and my wife was explaining that this (Australia) is where Dad was born. Lina smiles as though she has already been there. Next, a Phil Collins song. 30 seconds into the video and Lina calls out 'Papa' when she sees Phil. One look at his head and the answer is clear.
After arriving home that day my wife has the pleasure of telling me the days events. She calls me 'Phil' and is on the floor laughing for 5 minutes. At least I can make some people laugh.
